Travel Logging with Kuldip | EP 01 | Mumbai Transport
To travel to Mumbai in a budget-friendly firstly you need to know what all options are available for transport.
Following are the all transport facilities available in Mumbai:
Mumbai Local Train
Mumbai Metro Train
Mumbai Local Bus
Mumbai Taxi/Auto (With Meter and Without Meter)
Taxi/Auto through online application (Ola/Uber)
When I say budget travel option, we have only first 3 options available.
Mumbai Metro train is best transport available in all 3 because it will take less time and no traffic and in metro you will also have AC. But the problem is that metro is not available in all parts of Mumbai.
Following link has more details about all operational lines of Metro as of December 2023:
Note: For latest updates always use Google Maps and Google Search engine.
I will also share couple of applications that you can use for metro timing, track and all.
You will get a metro ticket from each station. Just don’t lose the ticket before leaving your destination station. You will need it to leave the station.
The second transport I would prefer is Mumbai local train. Lots of people travel by local train so you will hardly find any space in the train sometimes you will not be able to down the train if your station is small (not big one like Dadar, CSMT, Andheri and all).
There are 2 types of local trains one is fast and the other is slow. Slow one will be stop at each and every stop in the route while fast one will stop only on few one.
So choose your train wisely where you have to go. I will provide the app name in the end. To get more details about train timing, routes and all.
For train tickets, at every station, there are facilities of Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM). You can also use UPI to pay ticket price. Another option for train tickets is through the mobile app(UTS APP) directly.
And last option is bus, it is slowest transport available comparing to others but it is also most cheapest one than others as well. The good thing about Mumbai local bus is that you can also track your bus through the application.
Now let me share you apps that can help you decide which transport you should choose and which app to use for that.
Google Maps: Trust me you will need this at every step of your journey through Mumbai. Just enter current and destination places and it will show all possible transport available, choose from that wisely.
UTS (Unreserved Ticketing Service): If you don’t want to use ATVM then use this app for online local train booking.
Chalo: All mumbai local bus can be tracked from Chalo App. you can also book a ticket from this app or you can directly get it through the conductor.
Mumbai Local: It will help you to learn more about Mumbai local train route and all.
M-Indicator: You can use this app for all related information about Mumbai Local Train, Metro Train, and Bus as well.
